Public Art: Brainwash

My block print is an old vintage TV with the word BRAINWASH on it. I chose to create this image because I feel that it represents an important current event in society. TV's and ads in the media are used to try to get people to believe a certain thing and usually buy products that will improve they're lives. The media is trying to appeal mostly to children. They are using the fact that all kids want is to fit in and be like everybody else. TV's are creating carbon copies of the so called "normal" teenager. In other words they are brainwashing the youth for their own personal needs. They are teaching kids that the approval of others is the only thing that matters, that we don't matter, and that we're no different from each other.  We put up our prints in Swami's, downtown encinitas, and downtown San Diego. People were confused about why we were putting them up and were trying to figure out the message which was my objective. To make them think and wonder.
