Savanah's Collage/Painting Project

  1. I created depth to my painting through the shading on the horses body. I paid close attention to the different shades of color used to make the horse more realistic. I balanced my use of painting and collage by doing the whole background collaged. Because I only used the collage for the background, the horse does not have different textures to it. I wanted to focus on the details of the horse, so I did not collage or add any texture to the horse itself. I worked really hard to paint the details on the horse. I was really patient adding all the layers and new that this was necessary to create the proper shading for the dapples. I planned carefully what I wanted to collage so that I got the finished piece that I desired. After several ideas, I concluded on how to properly execute my project. I am really happy with the end project and the decisions I made along the way.

  2. The painting itself is based off a picture that I took. The painting style was inspired by Degas' "Dancers in Blue." I used a very similar technique for the dapples that he used for the background in his painting. I also took inspiration from his shading to create the proper depth in my paiting
