✄ Selena's typography "Until We Meet Again My Friend" ✄

- selena norman

Should typography be expressive, how so?
I feel that each individual has their own opinion, like i say "Each to his own". Some may be the strait laced type and tend favor the uniform plain text ( like Helvetica), were as on the flip side many may view it as a way to express there soul. I view text like art, like a voice shouting what needs to be heard. Color, shape, definition, anything and everything can be achieved through simple imagination. thousands of fonts complement thousands of peoples point of views. Any font is suitable as long as it enhances the users personality.

Give examples...
Examples can range from the cooky crazy text to fonts that reflect almost a demure aspect. When you look in a dictionary what do you see? You can scour the book time and time again but you wont be able to find any form of expression through its text. You will see a font that is purely there to state information, nothing more nothing less. However when you look through album covers you will see more fonts then you can count. Crazy, loud, bold, anything and every to get the message of the artist across!

How is yours expressive?
Mine is expressive because it creates a contrast of organic and inorganic shapes.  In the first piece of text "Until we meet again my friend" creates a mood of a soft forgiving voice. The bold color allows the onlooker to absorb the message with out being bombarded with the usual slogans. When looking at the second piece of text you see the words "Forever and always." Those words represent the strong words that seem to be forgotten. For that reason i was able to write them in capital letters however allowing them to fade into the background of the piece almost going unnoticed.
